The Fisherman's Used Truck
The first, and possibly one of the most important, is duct tape. Duct tape is great for making temporary repairs to everything from your truck itself, your pole, and even your waders. Electrical tape is also helpful. Electrical tape may prove to be a better bet on rod repairs than duct tape.
Never go into the woods with an ax or hatchet. These tools will be useful if you happen to come across a tree that has fallen across a road or it may get you an even better fishing spot by cutting away brush along the shoreline.
It is a good idea to keep dry tinder in the truck for the emergency of needing a fire. Keep the tinder in a plastic bag to ensure its dryness when you need it. If you happen to get wet on a cold morning you’ll be glad you have it. Along with the dry tinder, keep a lighter or two in the glove box. It’s a good idea, just in case your primitive fire-building skills happen to fail you.
Always have back-up supplies. Keep an extra rod, reel, and tackle box. It would be quite depressing if you happen to lose your gear to a rolling river then have to return home with no fish and no gear.
You may want to keep a hearty supply of purified water, or a mechanism to purify water, and beef jerky, the staples of the fisherman’s diet. The jerky is great because it needs no refrigeration and it is a great way to pass the time.
