Replace the Carpet in your Automobile Yourself
Here are the steps:
Remove everything that is on the carpet, including the car seats, center console and door molding. To remove the seats all you need to do is find the right sized socket and unbolt them. Make sure you disconnect all of the electrical wires that you find.
Take both door jam panels off by using a tool to gently separate them away from the sides of the doors. There may be screws or clips that need to be removed before the molding is removed that is located along the length of the doors.
Remove the center console if your car has one by opening the console hatch to remove the screws. Each vehicle requires a slightly different technique; you may want to consult with a repair manual to find the correct way to remove the fastener.
At this point the carpet should be free to be pulled up, you should start in any of the corners of the car, clearing any obstacles that may be in the way, making certain to keep the carpet in one piece so that you can use it as a stencil to draw around the old carpet making an outline for cutting the new carpet to size.
Lay the new carpet starting from the front of the car to the back, to fit it as well as possible, then re-connect all electrical wires and align through the center console, re-screw the mounting screws.
The last steps are to bolt down your seats tightly and replace the side molding to hold the carpet in place-that’s all there is to it!
